Itineraries
Day 1
Arrival in Windhoek
Welcome to Namibia! Upon arrival, you are met by your guide and transferred to Windhoek. After time to settle in, enjoy a short city tour and gain a first impression of Namibia’s capital. The day ends with dinner and a relaxed start to your safari adventure.
Day 2
Namib Desert
Leaving Windhoek behind, we travel south into the Namib Desert. Along the way, the scenery changes from central highlands to vast open plains, rugged mountains and endless desert landscapes. Our lodge is situated in the Sossusvlei area and provides the perfect base from which to explore this remarkable region. Depending on time, there may be an opportunity to visit Sesriem Canyon before dinner.
Day 3
Sossusvlei & Dead Vlei
An early start takes us into the Namib-Naukluft National Park and the famous dunes of Sossusvlei. We visit the striking Dead Vlei, where ancient camel thorn trees stand amongst towering red dunes. Those who wish can climb Big Daddy for spectacular desert views. Depending on the programme, a visit to Sesriem Canyon may also be included before returning to the lodge.
Day 4
Swakopmund
Travelling through the heart of the Namib Desert, we pass the Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons before reaching the Atlantic coast. Via Walvis Bay, we continue to Swakopmund, a charming coastal town known for its German colonial architecture and seaside atmosphere. The afternoon is at leisure to explore the town, enjoy the beach or relax at one of the many cafés and restaurants.
Day 5
Swakopmund
This morning, we enjoy a boat cruise on the Walvis Bay Lagoon, home to seals, pelicans, flamingos and, with a little luck, dolphins. The afternoon is at leisure to explore Swakopmund, relax by the beach or join one of the many optional activities, including quad biking, sandboarding or scenic flights along the Skeleton Coast.
Day 6
Erongo Mountains / Damaraland Region
(Silver) Leaving the Atlantic coast behind, we travel to the Erongo Mountains. Along the way, we catch sight of the iconic Spitzkoppe, often referred to as Namibia’s Matterhorn. Surrounded by granite formations, open savannah and rugged mountain scenery, the Erongo region is one of the country’s most beautiful landscapes.
(Gold) Travelling inland via Karibib and Omaruru, we continue to a private wildlife reserve on the edge of the Damaraland region. This afternoon, we enjoy a game drive in search of the reserve’s wildlife before relaxing and taking in the peaceful surroundings.
Day 7
Etosha National Park
Continuing north, we make our way to Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s premier wildlife destinations. Home to elephant, giraffe, zebra, rhino, lion and a variety of antelope species, the park offers outstanding game viewing throughout the year. After settling in, we enjoy our first game drive and begin exploring this remarkable wilderness.
Day 8
Etosha National Park
A full day is dedicated to exploring Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s premier safari destinations. Accompanied by your guide, visit a variety of waterholes and habitats in search of elephant, giraffe, zebra, antelope, lion and rhino. The park’s vast salt pan and abundant wildlife make it one of the highlights of any Namibia safari.
Day 9
Etosha National Park
(Silver) Enjoy another day in and around Etosha National Park. Wildlife viewing around the park’s famous waterholes often produces memorable sightings, while the lodge provides the perfect place to relax and soak up the atmosphere of one of Africa’s great wildlife destinations.
(Gold) Leaving Ongava behind, we continue through the eastern section of Etosha National Park. Along the way, we visit several waterholes in search of wildlife before arriving at Onguma Game Reserve, situated on the park’s eastern boundary.
Day 10
Rundu & the Okavango River
Leaving Etosha behind, we travel north into the Kavango Region. Passing traditional villages along the way, we reach our lodge on the banks of the Okavango River. In the afternoon, we enjoy a sunset boat cruise, taking in the beautiful river scenery and looking out for birdlife and other wildlife along the water’s edge.
Day 11
Along the Okavango
Following the Okavango River, we travel east through the lush landscapes of northern Namibia. Along the way, we pass traditional villages and gain an insight into local life in the Kavango and Zambezi regions. Our lodge is set on the riverbank, and in the afternoon we enjoy a sunset boat cruise, taking in the scenery and abundant birdlife.
Day 12
Mahango National Park
Explore Mahango National Park, one of Namibia’s finest wildlife areas. Accompanied by your guide, search for elephant, buffalo, hippo and a variety of antelope species in this beautiful riverine landscape. The combination of river, floodplains and woodland makes Mahango a rewarding safari destination and a highlight for bird enthusiasts.
Day 13
East Caprivi
Travelling through Bwabwata National Park, we continue towards the Kwando River in Namibia’s Zambezi Region. Surrounded by floodplains, woodland and riverine landscapes, this wildlife-rich area offers excellent safari opportunities. In the afternoon, we enjoy an activity on the river or in the surrounding reserve, with good chances of seeing elephant, buffalo, antelope and abundant birdlife.
Day 14
Bwabwata National Park
Explore Bwabwata National Park and the wildlife-rich landscapes of the Kwando River. During a game drive, we visit the scenic Horseshoe Lagoon, a favourite gathering place for elephant, buffalo, antelope and a variety of birdlife. The remainder of the day can be spent relaxing at the lodge or enjoying one of the activities available in this beautiful river region.
Day 15
Chobe River
Leaving Namibia behind, we continue into Botswana and the renowned Chobe region. After arriving at our lodge, we enjoy our first activity on the Chobe River, one of Africa’s most wildlife-rich waterways. Elephants, hippos, crocodiles and abundant birdlife are regularly seen along the riverbanks, providing a wonderful introduction to Chobe National Park.
Day 16
Chobe National Park
Explore the wildlife-rich landscapes of Chobe National Park and the Chobe River. Activities by vehicle and boat provide excellent opportunities to see elephants, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, antelope and abundant birdlife. The combination of river, floodplains and woodland makes Chobe one of Botswana’s premier safari destinations.
Day 17
Victoria Falls
Leaving the Chobe region behind, we travel to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Later, we visit the spectacular Victoria Falls, where the Zambezi River plunges into the gorge below. Known as Mosi-oa-Tunya ("The Smoke That Thunders"), this natural wonder is one of Africa’s most iconic sights. The remainder of the day is at leisure, with a variety of optional activities available.
Day 18
Departure
Enjoy a relaxed morning in Victoria Falls before transferring to the airport for your onward flight. Your Southern Africa safari comes to an end, leaving you with unforgettable memories of spectacular wildlife, iconic landscapes and remarkable experiences.
