Upon arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport, you are warmly welcomed by your guide. A short orientation drive through Windhoek introduces you to Namibia’s capital before continuing south into the scenic Auas Mountains. Your lodge is situated within a private reserve offering expansive views across rolling hills and bushland. After time to relax following your flight, enjoy an afternoon guided game drive. Oryx, giraffe and springbok are frequently sighted, providing a gentle introduction to Namibia’s wildlife.
After breakfast, travel south towards the red sands of the Kalahari. The landscape opens into wide savannah dotted with camelthorn trees and long parallel dunes. In the late afternoon, explore the Kalahari on a guided sunset drive in an open vehicle. As the dunes glow in warm evening light, your guide introduces you to the flora and fauna adapted to this semi-desert environment. The excursion concludes with a traditional sundowner.
Journey further south through Namibia’s striking arid landscapes. En route, visit a quiver tree forest, where these distinctive aloes were once used by the San people to fashion quivers for their arrows. Nearby, impressive rock formations known as the “Giants’ Playground” reveal geological formations shaped over millions of years. Continuing via Keetmanshoop, you arrive in the Fish River Canyon region. Your accommodation is set within dramatic granite surroundings, blending harmoniously with the natural landscape.
Today is dedicated to exploring the remarkable Fish River Canyon, considered the second largest canyon in the world. Stretching over 160 kilometres and reaching depths of up to 550 metres, it winds dramatically through a vast and rugged landscape. Your guide will take you to selected viewpoints along the canyon rim, allowing ample time to appreciate the scale and stillness of this extraordinary natural wonder.
Travelling along the Orange River, you cross the border into South Africa and enter the Namaqualand region. During the spring months (August–September), this area transforms into a vibrant carpet of wildflowers. Your lodge is situated amid rolling hills with sweeping views across the surrounding mountains — a peaceful setting in the heart of Namaqualand.
Today is reserved for discovering the surrounding reserves. Depending on seasonal conditions and rainfall, your guide will take you either to Goegap Nature Reserve or to Namaqua National Park near Kamieskroon. Granite outcrops, open plains and seasonal floral displays create a rewarding day of exploration and photography.
Continue south towards the dramatic Cederberg Mountains. The scenery gradually changes as sandstone formations and rugged peaks rise from the plains. Your accommodation is set within a tranquil wilderness location offering wide views across this striking mountain landscape. In the late afternoon, the Cederberg often glows in soft purple and amber tones.
Leaving the mountains behind, travel towards South Africa’s West Coast and the tranquil waters of Langebaan Lagoon. Your accommodation overlooks the lagoon, offering sweeping coastal views. The afternoon is at leisure — perhaps a walk along the beach or an optional boat excursion.
Today you explore West Coast National Park, known for its diverse birdlife and coastal scenery. Larger mammals such as eland, kudu, zebra and springbok may also be encountered. Return to your lodge in the afternoon and enjoy time to relax by the sea.
Travelling south, make a brief stop in the charming town of Darling before continuing to Cape Town. Few cities rival Cape Town’s setting — framed by Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean. Upon arrival, check into your hotel in the vibrant Camps Bay or Atlantic Seaboard area. The evening is free to enjoy one of the city’s renowned restaurants, perhaps at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.
Weather permitting, begin the day with a visit to Table Mountain for sweeping views over the city and coastline. Continue along the spectacular coastal road towards the Cape of Good Hope. Highlights include the penguin colony at Boulders Beach and the renowned Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Your guide will tailor the day according to conditions to ensure the best possible experience.
Today you explore the beautiful Cape Winelands. Surrounded by mountain ranges, the valleys of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl are home to historic estates and elegant Cape Dutch architecture. Visit a traditional winery for a tasting and gain insight into South Africa’s wine heritage before returning to Cape Town in the afternoon.
Travel along the scenic coastal route to Hermanus, widely regarded as one of the world’s finest land-based whale-watching destinations (seasonal). A boat-based whale-watching excursion offers close encounters with southern right whales during migration season. Outside whale season, the dramatic coastline remains impressive. Return to Cape Town in the afternoon.
After breakfast, your guide transfers you to Cape Town International Airport for your onward flight. Your guided journey from Namibia’s vast deserts to South Africa’s southern coast concludes here.
