Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival in Windhoek

After arriving at the airport, you meet your guide and transfer to Windhoek. Once you have checked in, there is time to settle in, freshen up, and rest after your journey. In the afternoon, a short orientation tour of the city gives you an overview of Windhoek’s layout and daily life. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 2

Into the Kalahari Semi-Desert

After breakfast, you begin your journey south through Namibia’s central highlands. The route takes you through small towns before reaching the red sand dunes of the Kalahari semi-desert. In the late afternoon, a guided nature drive introduces the local environment. You may see oryx, springbok, and other species that are adapted to the arid conditions.

Day 3

To the Fish River Canyon

The journey continues south across semi-arid plains. Along the way, you stop at the Quiver Tree Forest and nearby basalt formations known as the Giant’s Playground. These natural sites are home to ancient plant and rock formations. You reach the Fish River Canyon area in the late afternoon and can enjoy the surrounding landscape.

Day 4

Exploring the Fish River Canyon

In the morning or afternoon, you visit the main viewpoints of the Fish River Canyon. The canyon stretches for 160 kilometres and reaches depths over 500 metres. Walking paths along the rim allow for short walks with views over the rock formations and dry riverbeds. The rest of the day is free to relax or join a short walk near the lodge.

Day 5

Travel to Aus

Today you travel west toward the Aus Mountains. The road leads through dry plains with occasional mountain backdrops. In the afternoon, you have the chance to visit the area around Garub, where desert-adapted wild horses may be seen near a waterhole. There is also time to explore the walking trails near your overnight stop.

Day 6

Into the Namib Desert

You continue north along the edge of the Namib, one of the oldest deserts in the world. The road passes through remote areas with wide views and scattered inselbergs. In the afternoon, there is time to visit the nearby Sesriem Canyon. This narrow gorge offers insight into the desert’s geological history.

Day 7

Sossusvlei & the Namib Dunes

An early departure allows you to reach the Sossusvlei area at sunrise. The morning light brings out the colours and contours of the tall dunes. A short walk leads into Dead Vlei, a dry pan with dark, dead camelthorn trees set against the white clay and orange sand. After the excursion, you return to your lodge and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 8

From Desert to Coast

Today’s journey leads through the central Namib Desert. The route passes through Solitaire and the Kuiseb Pass before reaching the Atlantic coast. You may spot wildlife such as ostriches or oryx along the way. After passing through Walvis Bay, you arrive in Swakopmund, where you can take a walk along the beach or through the town centre.

Day 9

Marine Excursion & Coastal Activities

In the morning, a catamaran cruise in the lagoon near Walvis Bay offers opportunities to see marine birds, seals, and possibly dolphins. Light refreshments are served on board. The afternoon is at leisure for optional activities such as visiting the museum, walking along the beachfront, or booking a scenic flight along the coast.

Day 10

To the Erongo Mountains

After leaving the coast, you drive inland toward the Erongo Mountains. The route passes the Spitzkoppe, a large granite outcrop often called the “Matterhorn of Namibia.” In the late afternoon, a guided walk introduces the natural surroundings, including rock formations and plant life. You return in time to watch the sun set over the mountains.

Day 11

Into Damaraland - Twyfelfontein

The journey continues through Damaraland. You pass the Brandberg, Namibia’s highest mountain, and arrive at Twyfelfontein in the afternoon. A guided walk takes you to a site with ancient rock engravings, now recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The engravings were made by early hunter-gatherers and depict animals and tracks.

Day 12

Along the Huab River

Today includes a guided drive in an open vehicle along the dry Huab and Aba-Huab riverbeds. The route passes through woodland and open plains. With some luck, you may encounter desert-adapted elephants or other wildlife. The terrain is sandy, and the scenery changes frequently during the drive.

Day 13

Through Damaraland

You continue north through Damaraland, stopping to visit the Petrified Forest. Here, fossilized tree trunks lie exposed by erosion and date back over 250 million years. The rest of the day is spent travelling through quiet valleys and past dry riverbeds until you reach your next overnight stop.

Day 14

To Etosha National Park

Today you travel toward Etosha National Park. After arriving at the southern gate, you begin your first guided game drive. The park includes grasslands, mopane woodland, and the large Etosha salt pan. Depending on the route, you may see giraffes, springbok, or elephants near waterholes.

Day 15

Across to Eastern Etosha National Park

You spend the full day driving through the park from west to east. The guide stops at key waterholes and lookout points. Common sightings include zebra, kudu, wildebeest, and a variety of birds. If lucky, you may also see lions or black rhino. You exit the park in the afternoon and overnight nearby.

Day 16

Etosha National Park

This day is flexible. You may choose to enter the park again for additional game viewing or spend time at the lodge. Optional activities such as guided bush walks or birdwatching may be available.

Day 17

Waterberg Region

After breakfast, you leave the Etosha area and drive south via Tsumeb and Otjiwarongo. A stop at Lake Otjikoto is possible. In the afternoon, you arrive at a private nature reserve. A guided drive introduces the work of the AfriCat Foundation, which focuses on large carnivore conservation.

Day 18

Towards Windhoek

Today’s journey leads toward the central part of Namibia. You may stop at the woodcarving market in Okahandja before arriving at a private game reserve near Windhoek. In the afternoon, a final game drive allows you to observe species such as giraffes, rhino, and various antelopes in a relaxed setting.

Day 19
