Upon arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport, you are warmly welcomed by your guide and transferred to your guesthouse in a quiet residential area of Windhoek. After time to settle in and recover from your journey, enjoy a guided city tour of Namibia’s capital. In the evening, dinner is served at a local restaurant — an opportunity to sample Namibia’s renowned game cuisine.
Your camping adventure begins as you travel via Rehoboth towards the edge of the Namib Desert. The landscape becomes increasingly dramatic as mountains rise from the plains. Your campsite is beautifully positioned beneath mature trees with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. As night falls, enjoy your first evening under Namibia’s clear, star-filled sky — far from artificial light and wonderfully tranquil.
This morning offers time to explore the striking Naukluft landscape on foot. With your guide, walk through rugged gorges and across mountain ridges while enjoying expansive views across the foothills of the Namib. With some luck, Hartmann’s mountain zebra may be sighted. Later, continue to the Sesriem area. Your campsite lies within close proximity to the dunes, offering views towards the vast desert to the west and the Naukluft Mountains to the east. Those who wish may visit Elim Dune or Sesriem Canyon in the late afternoon.
An early departure takes you to Sossusvlei, home to some of the highest dunes in the world. In the soft morning light, the dunes reveal striking contrasts of gold, red and deep shadow. A short walk leads into Deadvlei, where ancient camelthorn trees stand stark against the white clay pan. There is the opportunity to climb one of the towering dunes and enjoy sweeping desert views. On return, there may be time to visit Sesriem Canyon if not done the previous day.
Today you travel north via Solitaire, where a stop for the famous apple pie is almost tradition. Crossing the central Namib Desert, you pass the Tropic of Capricorn and traverse vast gravel plains. Arriving in Swakopmund, the Atlantic Ocean provides a refreshing contrast to the desert landscapes. Dinner is enjoyed at a seaside restaurant.
This morning, enjoy a boat excursion on the Walvis Bay Lagoon — either by catamaran or kayak. Large seal colonies are commonly seen, and dolphins, pelicans and flamingos are frequent visitors. The afternoon is at leisure to explore Swakopmund’s historic streets, browse local shops or relax at one of its well-known cafés.
Travelling inland, you pass the dramatic granite peaks of Spitzkoppe before reaching the Erongo Mountains. Your campsite is beautifully nestled among impressive granite formations. The surrounding landscape invites exploration, and sunset often paints the rocks in warm tones — a memorable setting to enjoy the stillness of the bush.
Today is dedicated to exploring the Erongo region. The mountains are considered one of Namibia’s hidden gems, offering striking scenery and tranquillity. A visit to a Living Museum of the San provides insight into traditional San culture. Learn about survival skills, hunting techniques and the use of indigenous plants in this engaging cultural encounter.
Via the small town of Uis and with views of the Brandberg, Namibia’s highest mountain, you travel towards Twyfelfontein. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein, home to one of Africa’s most important collections of ancient rock engravings. Your campsite is set within dramatic granite surroundings, offering a unique and atmospheric desert setting.
Today you explore the dry riverbeds of the Huab and Aba Huab. These ephemeral rivers are home to desert-adapted elephants, and with some luck, sightings are possible. The scenery of ana trees, camelthorn trees and wide sandy riverbeds creates a striking backdrop for this scenic excursion.
Your safari continues to Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s most renowned wildlife reserves. The vast Etosha Pan and surrounding waterholes attract a remarkable concentration of animals. In the afternoon, enjoy your first guided game drive or relax at camp before heading into the park.
Today is dedicated to exploring Etosha. Visiting various waterholes, you may encounter giraffe, zebra, kudu, springbok and, with luck, lion or elephant. Your guide will plan the day to maximise wildlife viewing opportunities before returning to camp at sunset.
Leaving Etosha behind, travel south to a private nature reserve known for its conservation work with leopard and hyena. In the afternoon, participate in a guided game drive within the reserve, with a chance of encountering some of Namibia’s elusive predators.
This morning, continue towards a private game reserve just outside Windhoek. The afternoon is at leisure to relax by the pool and reflect on the journey. An optional final game drive may be arranged.
After breakfast, your guide transfers you to Hosea Kutako International Airport for your onward flight. Your guided camping adventure through Namibia concludes here.
