Welcome to Namibia! Upon arrival at the airport, we are met and transferred to Windhoek, where we collect our rental vehicle. From here, we drive through the surrounding farmland to our lodge in the Auas Mountains, just south of the capital. The remainder of the day is yours to settle in after the long flight, relax by the pool or simply soak up your first impressions of Namibia. Depending on our arrival time, there may also be an opportunity to join an optional game drive before enjoying our first dinner in Namibia.
After breakfast, our route leads us to the Naukluft Mountains, part of the vast Namib-Naukluft National Park. This diverse landscape of rugged mountains, dry riverbeds and open plains makes the region a favourite among nature lovers and keen walkers. Around our accommodation, springbok, kudu, Hartmann's mountain zebra and a wide variety of birdlife are regularly seen. Depending on our arrival time, there is time to explore the area on foot and enjoy the tranquillity of this beautiful natural setting.
The day begins with a guided excursion into the Naukluft Mountains. A scenic 4x4 drive takes us to a viewpoint overlooking the surrounding landscape before we explore the impressive Quiver Tree Gorge on foot. Afterwards, we continue towards Sesriem. Our lodge is set within a private nature reserve and provides the perfect base for tomorrow's visit to Sossusvlei. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy the tranquillity of the Namib and prepare for the desert adventure ahead.
Today brings one of the highlights of our Namibia holiday. Setting off in the early morning, we make our way to Sossusvlei, where the first rays of sunlight illuminate the towering dunes in warm shades of red and gold. We visit the famous Deadvlei with its ancient camelthorn trees and, for those who wish, there is the opportunity to climb one of the dunes for far-reaching views across the sea of sand. Afterwards, we return to our lodge and spend the remainder of the day reflecting on this unforgettable desert experience.
Today we leave the Namib Desert behind and travel via Solitaire, where a stop for the famous apple pie is well worthwhile, before continuing to the Atlantic coast. Our route crosses the vast plains of the central Namib before we arrive in Swakopmund, a charming seaside town known for its German colonial architecture and relaxed atmosphere. Our accommodation is centrally located, allowing easy access to cafés, restaurants, shops and the promenade on foot. Those who wish can round off the day with dinner overlooking the ocean.
The next two days are yours to explore Swakopmund and its surroundings. One of the highlights is a catamaran cruise or kayaking excursion on the Walvis Bay Lagoon, where seals, dolphins, flamingos, pelicans and many other seabirds are regularly seen. The area also offers an excellent selection of optional activities, including a Living Desert Tour in search of the "Little Five", quad biking, sandboarding and scenic flights along the coastline. Alternatively, spend time wandering through the town, relaxing in one of its cafés or enjoying the beach.
Today we leave the coast behind and travel back into Namibia's interior. Along the way, we pass the distinctive granite peak of Spitzkoppe, one of the country's best-known landmarks. By the afternoon, we arrive at our lodge near Omaruru, set within a private wildlife reserve. A guided game drive offers the opportunity to observe a variety of animals before we end the day surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere of the Namibian bush.
Today we arrive at Etosha National Park, one of Africa's best-known wildlife reserves. Covering almost 23,000 km², the park is home to elephants, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, lions and a wide variety of antelope species. Our lodge is located close to the park entrance, providing the perfect base for the exciting safari days ahead. Depending on our arrival time, there may be an opportunity for a first game drive or simply to relax at the lodge.
Today is dedicated to exploring Etosha National Park. We spend the day discovering its diverse landscapes and visiting a selection of waterholes where wildlife gathers throughout the year. Elephants, giraffes, zebras, kudu, oryx, springbok and many other species are regularly encountered, making every game drive a unique experience. Towards the evening, we return to our accommodation to reflect on another rewarding day in the African bush.
Today we continue our safari through the eastern section of Etosha National Park. Along the way, we visit more waterholes and continue searching for the park's abundant wildlife. Every drive offers new encounters, from elephant herds and giraffes to zebras, a variety of antelope species and predators. Towards the evening, we leave the park and make our way to our accommodation near the eastern gate, where we can relax after another memorable day on safari.
Today we leave Etosha National Park behind and travel towards Otjiwarongo. Our destination is a private wildlife reserve renowned for its conservation efforts and diverse range of wildlife. During the afternoon, we join a guided game drive in search of rhinos, sable antelope, roan antelope and many other species that call the reserve home. Afterwards, there is time to relax by the pool and reflect on the memorable experiences of the past few days.
Today it is time to say goodbye to Namibia. After breakfast, we drive back to Windhoek, return our rental vehicle and transfer to the airport for our onward flight home. Taking home unforgettable memories, remarkable wildlife encounters and lasting impressions, our Namibian adventure comes to an end.
