A 12-day self-drive tour
through the South of Namibia, experiencing the beauty of the Kalahari, the
Namib Naukluft and the Namib Desert.
Day 1: Arrive in Windhoek
our arrival we are transferred to our nearby Guestfarm in the Auas Mountains.
In the afternoon we are taken on a farm drive on this special farm ending with
a sundowner experience.
Day 2: Journey to the edge of the Kalahari desert
We travel south to a lodge on the edge of the
Kalahari, Full board. Typical red sand dunes and camelthorn tree savannah, we
are taken on a game drive to view the many desert adapted antelope and birds
including the giant sociable weaver nests.
Day 3: Drive via Keetmanshoop to the Fish River Canyon
To the second biggest canyon in the world, after
the Grand Canyon.Geologically
interesting Karoo landscape with interesting desert flora including the
majestic tree aloe, the Quiver Tree.
Day 4: Sightseeing at the Fish River Canyon
We enjoy a scenic drive to the Canyon. There are
also opportunities to hike or take relaxed walks in the area..
Day 5: Drive along the Orange River
The Orange River forms the border between
Namibia and South Africa and flows through a beautiful desert landscape.
Day 6: Klein Aus Vista
Opportunity for a day excursion to Lüderitz, the
ghost town Kolmanskop (early diamond town) and a visit to the famous wild
horses of the Namib Desert.
Day 7: Drive along the Tiras Mountains, Namib Desert
along the Namibrand and Tiras mountains on the edge of the Namib sand sea.
Allow yourselves to be revived by this magnificent surrounding.
Day 8: NamibRand Nature Reserve
won’t forget this picturesque landscape any time soon, a paradise for
photographer and nature enthusiasts.
Day 9: To Sesriem/Sossusvlei
Our lodge overlooks the massive sand sea to the
west and the Naukluft mountains in the east. Self-drive to Sossusvlei deep into
the heart of the dunes ending at the world famous Dead Vlei. A lovely area to
walk amongst the highest dunes in the world.
Famous for good service and delicious cuisine.
The lodge on the edge of the great escarpment, scenic bushveld after the red
sand dunes of the Namib. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive.
Day 10: Drive via Gaub Pass into the Khomas Hochland
Via Solitaire, where we may taste the legendary apple
pie, we drive to the Corona Guest Farm. This lodge is
located at the foot of the Gamsberg, which is the third
highest mountain in Namibia with 2347m. It is famous
for good service and delicious cuisine.
After tea and cake, we go on a farm tour in the rough
and rugged landscape of the area. Selecting a particularly beautiful vantage point where you enjoy the sunset with a drink.
Day 11: Drive to Windhoek
Our journey is slowly coming to an end. We travel over the Gamsbergpass and the Khomas Hockland to Windhoek and return the rental vehicle. Afterwards, transfer to our lodge close to the airport, but in the middle of the bush savanna. You can relax in the lovely gardens and at the pool. In the late afternoon you take a final game drive. After dinner we admire the clear starry sky one last time, and maybe even hear the roar of a lion.
Day 12: International flight
We can still enjoy the last morning in the Namibian bush. Then transfer to the airport, and outbound flight from Namibia in the afternoon or evening.
