19-days self-drive safari through Namibia, Botswana and to Victoria Falls. Enjoy Sossusvlei, the animals of Etosha, the wonders of the Okavango and the mighty Victoria Falls.
Day 1: Arrival in Windhoek
After
our arrival we are transferred to our nearby Guestfarm in the Auas Mountains.
In the afternoon we are taken on a farm drive on this special farm ending with
a sundowner experience.
Day 2: Journey to the edge of the Kalahari
Semi-desert
Via
Rehoboth and Kalkrand we travel to the Kalahari Semi desert with typical red sand dunes and camelthorn tree savannah. We are taken on a
game drive to view the many desert adapted antelope and birds including the
giant sociable weaver nests.
Day 3: Departure to Sossusvlei
The journey takes you down the escarpment to the
edge of the great sand sea. Continue via the Naukluft Mountains to your lodge
at Sesriem. After walking the geologically interesting Sesriem canyon you can continue
to the Elim Dune for a walk up to the summit to enjoy a 360-degree view of the
surrounding desert landscape.
Day 4: Sossusvlei
We enjoy
a morning drive into the dune sea which includes a visit to Dead Vlei and
Sossusvlei and the opportunity to walk up one of the highest dunes in the
world.
Day 5: Via Gaub- and Kuiseb-Canyon to Swakopmund
Along the great sand sea, river canyons, gravel
plains and Walvis Bay to Swakopmund. The small, friendly and historical town is
fascinating with its many interesting buildings, shops and restaurants.
Day 6: Swakopmund
Today you take part in an interesting Marine
Cruise to view seals, dolphins, pelicans and other sea birds and marine life.
Other activities of interest: Quadbiking in the dunes, a Living Desert Tour and
many interesting shops in this charming old colonial town.
Day 7: Drive to Erongo Mountains
A
beautiful granite boulder strewn environment. You can enjoy an interesting walk
to the bushman paintings or you may decide to visit the bushman “Living Museum
“.
Day 8: Depart to Etosha National Park
Game viewing on your own in the park. A vast
variety of wildlife in a pristine nature area. After sunset, relax and enjoy
sightings of wild animals at the camps’ waterhole.
Day 9: Etosha National Park
Own game drive in the park visiting the many waterholes. Sightings of herds of zebras and other species
of antelope, with luck, lions and elephants.
Day 10: Drive to eastern Etosha National Park
Another day in this animal kingdom spent game
viewing. Before sunset you leave the park and proceed to a unique bush camp,
your next overnight destination. Accommodation, good service and African
hospitality of a high standard await us.
Day 11: Travel to Rundu on the Okavango River
The journey takes us on a drive past many
traditional African villages. Sundowner boat cruise on the Okavango River.
Day 12: Travel to Mahango National Park
View the Popa Falls. Visit nearby Mahango Park,
home to a large variety of animals including hippo, buffalo, lion and many
different antelope.
Day 13: Drive through western Caprivi
Pure Africa! Elephants, hippo, crocodile and many other animals in this sub-tropical wildlife rich area. Sundowner boat trip along meandering river channels, in-between riverine rich vegetation, in search of wild animals. Afternoon relax and evening boat cruise on the
Kwando River, a bird paradise, hippo and many water antelope.
Day 14: Bwabwata National Park
Game drive in the Bwabwata National Park, home
to lion, leopard, elephant, hippo and many other interesting animals and birds.
Day 15: Transfer to Kasane /Botswana
Travel
to Katima Mulilo and return of rental car at office in Katima.
Transfer to Kasane in Botswana. Here we board the deluxe houseboat “Chobe
Princess” on the Chobe River. The real African adventure begins.
Day 16: Houseboat on the Chobe River
From the boat we experience and see
the animals like elephants, crocodiles, buffalo, hippo and maybe also lions on
the river banks.
Day 17: Transfer to Victoria Falls
Transfer
to Zimbabwe. The Lodge lies on a hill on the edge of the Zambezi National Park,
only 3 km from the renowned Victoria Falls.
Day 18: Victoria Falls
Transfer to the world-famous Victoria Falls
where the Zambezi River drops 110 meters over a cliff 1700 meters wide, to the
gorge below. Known as the Smoke that Thunders, the picture of these falls will
remain etched in your memory forever. In the afternoon you may decide to go
river rafting, on a boat cruise on the Zambezi River or possibly a scenic flight
above the falls.
Day 19: Flight Victoria Falls - Johannesburg
Transfer to airport for afternoon flight. Return to Europe on night flight out of Johannesburg.
