Day 3
Drive to the edge of the Kalahari semi-desert

Day 4
Journey via Keetmanshoop to the Fish River Canyon
Today we are facing a longer stretch. We drive through arid areas with many succulents like quiver trees. The bushmen used the dead branches of these trees as quivers for their arrows. We can take a closer look at this Aloe species at the quiver tree forest. Not far from the Quiver Tree Forest is the Giant's Playground, an ancient volcanic rock formation that transport every observer into a fascinating fantasy world.
Continuing to the Canyon Lodge we enjoy the spectacular view over the Fish River Canyon.

Day 5
Sightseeing of the Fish River Canyons
The Fish River Canyon is considered the second largest canyon in the world. It is about 160 km long, in places up to 27 km wide and 550 m deep. During the rainy season, the water meanders like a snake through a grey-brown rocky landscape towards the Orange River, the border river to South Africa. The docile and rather harmless appearing river has managed to erode the canyon during many millions of years. There are many hiking possibilities either at the lodge and in the canyon.

Day 6
Drive along the Orange River to Aus
Today's route, which is very scenic, takes us first south and then along the Orange River. The Orange River forms the border to South Africa and flows through a beautiful desert landscape. Along the Orange River alfalfa and wine are cultivated. The shiny green is a welcome change to the otherwise extremely dry environment. In the afternoon we can take an excursion to the wild horses of Garub (optional).
Klein-Aus Vista, Desert Horse Inn Lodge (DBB)

Day 7
Klein Aus Vista
Today we have the opportunity for an excursion to Lüderitz with a visit to the ghost town Kolmanskop. In 1908 the diamond rush began here. Soon, hordes of prospectors descended on the area. But after World War I the diamond finds decreased very much, and the village became a ghost town. On the way back we can stop at Garub to search for the Desert Wild Horses.

Day 8
Drive to the NamibRand Nature Reserve
The drive from Aus along the Namibrand is one of the most beautiful and impressive. To the right of the road the Tiras mountains and wide landscapes, to the left the red and yellow shining sand dunes. We check into our chalet which boasts a breath-taking view of the dunes, the desert plain and the nearby mountains.
Exclusive Wolwedans Dunes Lodge (FB + Activity)

Day 9
Wolwedans Dunes Lodge
The Namib Rand Nature Reserve is a highlight for enthusiastic photographers and nature lovers. Game Drives in the morning and in the afternoon are offered. We drive over the seemingly endless grasslands dotted with the legendary fairy circles, over smaller dunes, and along mystical mountain formations. We might see animals like oryx antelopes, ostriches, and springboks, which know how to survive in this arid desert area. These landscapes are beautiful and radiate a special calmness - balm for the soul.

Day 10
Today we only have a short distance to drive and we can enjoy the morning on Wolwedans to the fullest. Our next accommodation is close to the park entrance of Sossusvlei and offers us a wonderful view of the huge sand sea in the west and the Naukluft mountains in the east.
In the afternoon we drive to Sossusvlei, to the highest dunes in the world. Since the sun is already quite low, the high sand dunes shimmer golden, yellow, and reddish on one side, but are dark and shady on the other side. Thus, the dune ridge stands out razor-sharp. Short hike and visit of the photogenic Dead Vlei with its dead tree trunks. On the way back to the lodge we can explore the Sesriem Canyon.

Via Solitaire, where we might try the legendary apple pie, we drive to the Corona guest farm, located at the foot of the Gamsberg, which is the third highest mountain in Namibia with 2347m. The guest farm is well known for hospitality and excellent food. After coffee and cake, we will go on a farm tour in the rough and rugged landscape of the surrounding area. From a particularly beautiful vantage point, we enjoy the sunset with a drink.
